“I'm so happy that I can't stop crying, I'm so happy I'm laughing through my tears”
I’m So Happy That I Can’t Stop Crying: Sting, Mercury Falling

This is Sting’s shot at country music, off the album Mercury Falling, and he did a superb job as always. This song has a great beat and style to it, and always makes me kind of laugh through it. I never know how to take some of the lines in the song. There‘s not much hiding what this song is about, but the divorce that he went through.

I have to say there are lines in this song that I have had to deal with (seeing with someone else, lawyers), and some that I have not had the pleasure of dealing with (closure/her asking for forgiveness). The divorce I went through really changed me- but in such a positive way. I am such a better person for having gone through that hard as it was. And today, yes, I really do laugh through the tears that I once shed.

Not to be mean or cruel in any way, but I look at who I was- and I look at the life that I would have been living had I NOT split away from her and my heart shrinks to ashes. I can’t begin to list the cities, countries, people and things I have done since that split that I never would have been able to do had I stayed married to her. I never would have learned to have Dreams, I would never have met some very fabulous people that I have met, and I would have missed out on some great times with my sister before she died.

What they did and how they did it was so very wrong… but I am laughing all the way to the bank… the bank of having a life!

*** Artist Notes ***
Yes that is my ex wife, and my ex best friend that she married… no that is not Chelsea she is holding!

Seven weeks have passed now since she left me
She shows her face to ask me how I am
She says the kids are fine and that they miss me
Maybe I could come and baby-sit sometime
She says, "Are you O.K.? I was worried about you
Can you forgive me? I hope that you'll be happy."
I'm so happy that I can't stop crying
I'm so happy I'm laughing through my tears

I saw a friend of mine
He said, "I was worried about you
I heard she had another man,
I wondered how you felt about it?"
I'm so happy that I can't stop crying

Saw my lawyer, Mr Good News
He got me joint custody and legal separation
I'm so happy that I can't stop crying
I'm laughing through my tears
I'm laughing through my tears

I took a walk alone last night
I looked up at the stars
To try and find an answer in my life
I chose a star for me
I chose a star for him
I chose two stars for my kids and one star for my wife
Something made me smile
Something seemed to ease the pain
Something about the universe and how it's all connected

The park is full of Sunday fathers and melted ice cream
We try to do the best within the given time
A kid should be with his mother
Everybody knows that
What can a father do but baby-sit sometimes?
I saw that friend of mine, he said,
"You look different somehow"
I said, "Everybody's got to leave the darkness sometime"
I'm so happy that I can't stop crying
I'm laughing through my tears
I'm laughing through my tears
I'm so happy that I can't stop crying
I'm laughing through my tears
I'm laughing through my tears

Day 26 - Tornado season.

Day 26 - Tornado season.

So. I feel like I've been sleeping for 2 days straight. I don't know what happened. I stayed up till 5 in the morning Saturday night and messed up my whole sleep schedule. I've been sleeping alot since then, I only woke up yesterday around 6pm. Mom turned on the news and there was a tornado watch. She fell asleep and I of course had my eyes glued to the TV until 730 when the 'watch' turned into a 'warning.' Cue panic attack. It was raining so hard outside, leaves and rocks and shit were hitting the windows, lightening was going off, and everytime I heard a boom of thunder I screamed. Which only made my dad mad because I was "being a baby."

I think I have a pretty good reason to freak out. I went through a tornado in Maryland, where they aren't supposed to happen. The only tornado I'd ever seen was in the Wizard of Oz. There was no warning on the news, nothing, it just happened. I was at home by myself and it started storming really bad. I was getting nervous because my mom and brother were at the store and they weren't home yet. I sat outside on the front steps and waited for them. The sky kept getting darker and darker and the trees were swaying, but it still just looked like a bad thunderstorm was coming. And it was normal in the summer, and they only lasted like 20 minutes and then the sky cleared up and the sun came out and it was almost like it had never happened. Then it got really cold. I went inside to watch TV. It started raining and my mom and brother walked in the door. 30 seconds later the sky went dark and there was this deafening roar. It was like nothing I'd ever heard before. We stood at the window and watched our trees snap in half like toothpicks. Everytime one of them hit out house there was just loud cracking, booming noise. Windows busted open, we saw shingles from the roof flying around outside. And then it just stopped. We found out later that it was an F5 tornado and you could see it's path from space. 2 people died. It touched down in our backyard. We had a forest of trees that had disappeared. It was weird because all the trees had fallen in a circle, and in the middle there was only one tree standing.

You can't go through something like that and not freak out when you find out that it's going to happen again.

I have to get out of here. I can't handle the stress of "tornado season." I end up freaking out and crying so hard that every muscle in my body hurts the next day. And every time it happens I just make my dad mad. My mom says it's because he doesn't know how to deal with people crying. Um well, for starters, you don't yell at them cause it only makes it worse. Especially when it's your daughter.
